Ground floor flat side & rear extension

We designed a side and rear extension for this ground floor flat on Rollscourt Avenue, SE24, transforming a dark and disconnected kitchen and living area into a bright open-plan space for cooking, dining and relaxing. The existing two-bedroom layout was retained, while the rear of the flat was extended into the side return and garden to create a much stronger connection to the outside. Large glazed doors and rooflights bring natural light into the new living space, while a small courtyard was incorporated to help preserve practical escape access from the second bedroom – a common consideration when extending ground floor flats.
